How many of you would have watched rocky and rani ki prem kahani. In the movie, you will find all the members of Jaya Bhachan’s family revolting against her and you must have felt, she got what she deserved, this should have happened earlier.
But let’s just think for a moment. The flourishing business, the wealth and opulence that the family was enjoying was due to the strict discipline and sheer dedication and commitment of Jaya Bachan? Right? Yet the family was feeling suffocated?
What went wrong?
Things started to go wrong when she unconsciously drifted from being strict to being autocratic to being toxic. Her ego became larger than what’s good for the family or her business.
As the owner, somewhere in her journey, she started enjoying the power she wielded on her people and loved the way that they wilted in her presence. She was totally in control not allowing any other view point or talent to surface. Control, micro management, dominance, belittling others and consequent toxicity became her dominant trait.
That is what the top bosses and CEOs have to be fully aware of in their style of management, are they growing the organization or growing their own ego? Are they adding value or eroding value.
